THE STRENGTH OF A FLAT SPRING

To meet the requests of fast prototyping and small batch production, Mercury Fiber is the best solution for flat springs production.

A flat spring is a spring that is forged or laser cut from a sheet of metal. A flat spring comes in a range of different shapes and sizes for various applications and can be used in anything from complex machinery to simple applications keeping different components together. Flat springs are usually made of steel. This guarantees strength and resilience to the spring.

There are many different types of flat springs. They are used for several purposes and uses in different kind of industries, such as engines, office machines, counterweights, electrical switchboard, and for clips, earth moving machinery, industrial machinery etc. Regardless of the industry, custom flat springs are always high demanded.

In the last few years, the professionals used shearing systems with high costs and production times of the single pieces. Another alternative method was wire electrical discharge machining (WEDM) which allows to perform very accurate cut but with high costs and long machine set-up times. Both of these processes, therefore, do not meet the requests of fast prototyping and small batches that can be greatly matched by using Mercury Fiber.

SEI Laser Mercury Fiber is the fiber laser cutting system for thin metals and metal alloys processing. It is equipped with a high-power fiber laser (1060-1070 nm wavelength) and with a customized high-quality laser beam.
Mercury Fiber is a system Class 1 certified. The system is equipped with an automatic telescopic opening and closing cover, windows on the front side of the system with special protections window and a working table with fumes and dust extraction.
